Art is happening here!

Chloe has been doing a lot of art this year.  After her birthday, we signed her up for art classes with a friend in our ward, and she had an art show over the last weekend of April.  She was so excited and had some very nice art in it.  We really enjoyed going to her show!  

Also, Chloe participated in an art project with some students at her school that her art teacher put together.  It was called "No empty bowls", and was a charity auction where students made bowls from clay and then held an auction where all of their bowls were auctioned off.  All of the money went to a charity to feed the homeless and hungry in our community.  Chloe's picture was in the local events magazine!  We are proud of her and all of her accomplishments in art this year1

Brookie the Smarty

Brookie got Principal's club AGAIN for the fifth grading period!  She is such a little smarty pants!  Way to go sweetheart!

Ciera, Chloe and Autumn rocked their grades too!  So proud of all my girls!

Birthday Cake Disaster

Chloe wanted a Hunger Games cake for her birthday this year.  She also wanted the cake to be a tie-dye cake.  And, what my girls ask for, I try to do.  I spent a lot of time making the cake batter into different colors and mixing them just right.  The cake actually turned out great!

I began frosting her cake really late at night and didn't finish until around 2 in the morning.  I figured that it would be safe sitting in the oven overnight, so the cat wouldn't get into it at night.  So, I put it in the cold oven and went to bed.

In the morning, I was SO tired.  Dave and I hopped out of bed after hitting snooze a few times, and before we got ready for the morning, Dave went out and turned the oven on to preheat for our Cinnamon Rolls.  You see the problem...
It was about 5 minutes later I thought, "The cake!!!"  I ran out and opened the oven.  The cake was melting.  The picture on the top was spreading all over the cake and the words were no longer legible.
After getting really upset, I got out my cake decorating stuff and fixed it up.  It didn't look the same, but  it was still recognizable.

Chloe got up a little bit later and she loved it!  And that is all that matters!  (But I learned an important lesson for next time!!)

Birthday Adventures with Chloe

For Chloe's birthday we had Cinnamon rolls (which I will post more about in a post about her cake!), and she opened her gifts before school.

I got to go eat lunch with her at school, which was fun.  After school, Dave and I took her to Studio Movie Grill for dinner and a movie.  We saw "The Kroods", which was actually cute!
After we got home, we sang to her and had cake and ice cream.  It was pretty yummy.  We love our Chloe and are so glad she is a part of our family!

Happy 11th Birthday Chloe Elizabeth Tanner!

Eleven years ago today, Chloe Elizabeth came into this world.  She was very determined and strong willed at her birth, and she has been ever since.  She is an amazing, sweet, high-spirited, strong, funny, cute, artistic girl, and we are so happy that she is part of our family.  Our lives are better off for having her in them.

Happy Birthday our little crazy Sweetheart.  We love you!

Happy Easter 2013

For Easter this year, we decorated eggs on Friday afternoon, then got a visit from the Easter Bunny during the night (which Autumn was terrified about!), and had an egg-hunt when everyone woke up on Saturday morning.  Later that afternoon, we decorated sugar cookies (our favorite thing!) and had our Easter dinner before Ciera and I went to Yogurt Cup and the Young Women's General Conference meeting Saturday night.

Sunday, we spent the day together and went to our church meetings and then tried to go to a Stake Easter program (which was at bedtime, far away from our home, and a bit too slow for small attention spans... so I took the girls home).  ALL in all, it was a wonderful Easter.  We had a chance to talk about our Savior and the sacrifice He made for all of us.  I am so grateful for Him and the love he has for each of us!  I am so happy that because of Him, I can repent and improve myself, and I can be resurrected and live with my family forever.  Such an amazing gift!

Clubs and Corned Beef

Autumn came out in the living room the other day and posted this sign:

For Saint Patrick's Day this year, we celebrated on two days.  Since the actual day was on a Sunday, we had our traditional Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner on Saturday (because with Dave's Sunday responsibilities, he is never home to eat with us on Sundays).  We got a slow cooker recipe and it turned out really good... the girls all even ate it (especially the corned beef)!

On Sunday, we had Irish Cheese ravioli (in the shape of Shamrocks).  They were yummy... and cute!

 Everyone wore green to church, and we had painted fingernails green on Saturday evening so even if the green clothes were off, nobody could pinch!  Ciera looked up Saint Patrick's Day on the internet and told us a little about why that day is celebrated.  It was a fun two days!
