Birthday Fun

For Ciera's birthday, we woke up early and had cinnamon rolls and opened gifts, then the girls left for school.  I was able to go eat lunch with Cici for her birthday... She wanted Panda Express.  It was fun sitting with her and her friends at school.  Her principal walked by and said he mistook me for a student at first. (Nice!  I must look like I belong in 8th grade still!  :) )
After school we went over to a friend's house and swam in their pool (which I didn't get any photos of... of course).  After dinner we had cake and ice cream.  Ciera wanted Olaf on her key-lime cake...  He was one of the easier ones I have done.  Tomorrow we get to take Ciera out for her parents-daughter date.  Happy Birthday Sweetheart!!

I can not believe that my Ciera is 14 years old!  She is a beautiful young woman and I am so proud of the person she is becoming!  Love you Cici!

Band News

Ciera had her last band concert of her Junior High Band career last night.  She has been in the top band all of her 3 years in band and always received division 1 on her solos and ensemble performances (the top scores).  She auditioned for her spot in the high school band two weeks ago and found out today that she got into the top high school band!  We are so proud of her!  Last night, at her concert, they played 3 songs for us.  The first was the Alma Mater of McMillan JHS, the second was called March of the Trolls (which I really liked), and the third was "Let it Go" from Frozen... which all the kids LOVED!  They did an outstanding job.  I look forward to hearing concerts from the Wylie East High School band soon!  (I tried to upload a video of the concert last night... but it would not load!  Sorry!)

Ciera's Birthday Party

On Saturday, Ciera had her birthday party.  It was a co-ed party (gasp!) and she had been planning the details for a while.  We decided on an ice skating party... which was fun!  Most of the kids had been skating before and could stay upright pretty well (Brooke and Autumn did really well too!).  Some kids could not stay up, even though they had been skating many times, and some had a hard time because they had not been skating more than once!  I think they all had a good time though.  After the kids got done skating, we got pizzas and had cupcakes at a park nearby the rink.  They all played tag and hide and seek, and had a lot of fun.  I can't believe that Ciera is turning 14 in a few days... where has the time gone??

My Brooke and Her Purple Glasses

We noticed that Brooke has been having trouble reading.  Not knowing the words, but SEEING the words!  I took her in for her well-check a while ago, and her eye test showed a decrease in her distance vision, so we took her in for her first-ever eye doctor visit.  She was a little nervous, but I went in too and did everything first so she could see that it was not scary.  She did really well, and, as we guessed, needed to get glasses.  She immediately picked out the most purple frames she could find... and they are darling on her!  When she saw herself, she said, "I look so smart!"  She is smart... and cute!

Run, Run, Run

Ciera just finished up the Cross Country season for this year.  She always improves a lot from the start of the season until they finish up (4 weeks later).  It feels like they just get into it and then it is over... If the season was just a little longer, I bet we would see her continue to improve her times even more!  She always gave it her best effort and ran the entire race, no matter her place in the group.  I am super proud of her!  Way to go Ciera!

The Perfect Day

My family spoils me on Mother's Day.  I was treated to Dave being home in the morning before church with me (which is rare these days), and a yummy danish for breakfast.  The girls had gone out with Dave shopping for me on Saturday, and they were so excited for me to open my gifts.  In addition to a cute sign they made for me, they picked out a cinnamon scented candle (Yum!), and a strawberry slicer (Handy!).  Dave got tickets for me and him to go see The Phantom of the Opera when it comes to Dallas in August!!!  Dave also cooked dinner for us and let me take a long nap... which was wonderful! Autumn gave me a massage and rubbed lotion on my hands and feet... and declared that "Now every day is Mother's Day!"... she forgot the next day though.  But it was a cute thought!

A Trip to the Farm

Brooke's end of the year field trip was to the Heritage Farmstead in Plano.  It is an old farm house built around 1820.  All of the workers wear clothes from that time period and the kids get to do activities like they were living in that time too.  There was a blacksmith shop, a one-room schoolhouse, gardens, chicken coops, and a barn.  I was able to go as a chaperon and it was a load of fun!  I enjoyed the old farm house... it would have been a lot of work to live back then!  I believe that Brooke had a lot of fun too!

Awards Night

Chloe was recognized at her school's awards ceremony.  She got A/B honor roll... all year she got only A's and B's on her report cards (mostly A's!).  We are so proud of her!  Yay Chloe!

Dinostars!

Autumn's 1st grade musical, "Dinostars" was last night.  The songs were very cute and fun, and Autumn had a speaking part in the last group.  She spoke loud and clear and did a wonderful job!  I love my little Dino-Star!
