Ward Field Day

Our ward had a "field day" activity... dinner and games.  It was supposed to be held outside, but because the weather has been so wet, it was inside.  There were fun games... but the only one I got a picture of was the doughnut eating contest (which was done a little weirdly!)!  Dave and the little girls each did a great job eating that doughnut! :)

Happy 15th Birthday to Ciera Marie!

Holy Cow!  It is hard to believe that Ciera is 15 already.  Where has the time gone?  She is a beautiful, talented, amazing girl and I cannot believe that she is already finishing her freshman year of high school.  It seems like yesterday that she was screaming her little head off as Dave and I sang Primary songs over and over to try to calm her, or that she was dancing to the Teletubbies videos with her cute little blonde pigtails in our living room, or that she was stepping into her Kindergarten classroom on that first day of school... so brave and excited, as Dave and I cried to see our little baby go off to school.  Time has flown by, and Ciera has grown into an awesome young woman.  I love her with all my heart, and can't wait to see that woman that she will become.
For her big day, we all got an early start and opened presents before school.  I made jumbo homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast... YUM!  After school, when Dave got home, we took Ciera out to dinner (she chose Rice Garden, a Chinese food place), and then to see the new Avengers movie.  After we got home, we had cake and ice cream with her sisters.  It was a wonderful day!

Mother's Day

My family spoiled me for Mother's Day last weekend!  We got to pick out flowers for my front flower bed (even though we had to wait to plant them due to the large amounts of rain!).  They made me food and cards, and let me take a Mother's Day nap after church!  I love my family!  I am so glad I get to be a mom to these wonderful girls!

School Scientists in the HOUSE!

Brooke and Autumn both participated in the school science fair (which was the first year it was held).  They were given the assignment in January sometime, and were given checkpoints along the way, but the actual project was due the beginning of May.  Brooke did a project looking at osmosis with shell-less eggs and different solutions of salt and sugar water.  Autumn did yeast in different temperatures of water to see which grew the fastest.  They both did awesome jobs!

Dave was able to speak to Autumn's class about insects, because they were doing a unit on insects in science and Autumn told her class that her dad studies bees.  They were all so interested and asked a million questions.  Dave was really good and it was really fun to see how proud Autumn was!

Spring Events

April brought lots of rain... May has also brought lots of rain!  There have been a few days of sunshine in between all the cloudy days where we have been able to get out and enjoy the spring weather.  One day at the end of April, the City of Wylie had a Jazz Festival.  The little girls wanted to go walk around, so I took them.  They got to make hats out of paper bags at a station called the "Rad Hatter".  They had fun.  We listened to bit of music and they ate snow cones.  It was a fun afternoon.

On May 1, the 4th graders in the district competed in a track meet.  The kids all got to sign up for the events they wanted to do, and then those that wanted to compete, got to.  Brooke signed up for the 100 Meter dash.  She is not very tall or long-legged, and our family as a whole is not terribly athletic, so I didn't know what to expect. Brooke gave it her all, and got 3rd place in her heat!  She was so happy... and I was so proud of her!  Awesome job!
