Smarty Pants and Daredevil

We had a great day today. We spent a lot of time as a family. We decided to go on a walk this afternoon around the neighborhood. Ciera and Chloe rode their scooters, and the little girls rode around in the wagon. On our walk, there is a slight hill where the girls like to go really fast on their scooters. It always scares Dave and I to watch, because their scooters get all wiggly, like they are going to eat it any second. Well, today it finally happened. Ciera made it to the bottom of the hill, going really fast, and then took a great spill at the bottom. She was very brave, and only cried a bit. Dave was very proud of his little girl... she had scrapes to equal some of the scrapes he has gotten. :)

On another note... not to brag (sort of), but our offspring are so smart. They probably are geniuses. Ciera and Chloe were reading at an early age (well before Kindergarten), and Brooke is the same. She has been reading for quite a while. She has been getting better and better over the past couple of months... and now is reading chapter books with only a little help on some of the words. She reads scriptures with us each night, and always amazes us with the words she reads on her own. She is only five, and is reading chapter books! I can't wait to see the things our kids will accomplish in their lives!

HaPpY HaLlOwEeN!!!

What fun! We started celebrating Halloween today, beginning with a trip to the pumpkin patch to pick out pumpkins to carve. All the girls found great pumpkins, and we carved them up into great Jack-o-Lanterns! After we finished, we watched "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown" (A must-see on Halloween!) before dinner. After dinner, we dressed up the girls in their costumes, and went to the church for the Trunk-or-Treat. It was great fun! Ciera had a friend come along (Sarah) and they all got A LOT of candy!Ciera was Cleopatra. She made a great Egyptian!Chloe was a corpse bride... she was a bit spooky!Brooke was Cinderella... very fitting for our little Diva!Autumn was Casper the Friendly Ghost... but she has had a very hard time deciding on one costume this year... so far she has had on four different costumes! What a cute little silly!

What I love...

I love Dave. Today is his birthday, and I am so glad that he was born.
He is my best friend, and I wish him all the happiness in the world.
I also love pie. Dave's birthday request was for pie instead of a birthday cake. YUM.

Camp and Pumpkins

Ciera is at 5th grade Adventure Camp this week. This is her first time away from us for any extended period of time... I don't know if she is having a hard time with it, but we are! Her sisters really miss her (and her mom & dad too...)! She left to go to camp on Wednesday, and will be home on Friday, but it feels like an eternity! She is growing up so fast, and her mom is not ready!
We have been trying to find something to do to pass the time while she is away. Making treats is always a good "time passer"! We made Mom Tanner's peanut butter pumpkins today. They are so easy and so yummy!

Lost Tooth! (No, REALLY lost!!)

Brooke lost her first tooth today. It has been really loose for a little while, and we tried to pull it last night, but Brooke was TOO scared, so we waited and tried again today. It took one pull, and then it flew across the bathroom. We LOST it! Brooke was so excited to lose her tooth, but then we had to go on a hunt to find it. Chloe and Autumn came in and helped us look. All of us were down looking, and we weren't sure that we were going to find it. I told them to look one more time, and to look on the carpet outside the bathroom door. Chloe was there, and said, "I found it!" Brooke was so excited! She put her tooth in a baggie (we don't do JUST the tooth under the pillow!!), and is SO ready for the tooth fairy to come! YEAH BROOKE!!

WooooOOOooooooOOOOOOoooooo!

Today our Preschool co-op took a field trip to the Fire Station. We were able to tour the station rooms, and the big engine and ambulances. The kids all had fun, and loved being able to get into the trucks! The firemen were really great with the kids and showed them all of their equipment and tools. They answered all of their questions and put up with their funny comments. Autumn was talking to one of the firemen, and he asked how old she was. She said "three" and then told him that I was 64! That was pretty funny!

Lake Lavon

Last week we took our first "hike" in Texas. Texas hiking is not at all like Utah hiking... but it is all we've got for now. It is more like a walk in the wilderness, not a hike... but it is okay. And it is great for little legs! We hiked through a tall weed field to Lake Lavon, which is really close to us. The girls were really excited, and liked looking at all the flowers, bugs, rocks, and sticks that we came across. I think they are taking after their father! We got to the lake after about 15 minutes of walking, played for about 10 minutes (enough time for their shoes to become completely caked with muck...), and then walked back to our car. It was a really great family activity!
