Well, the school year is over. It has been two days of summer vacation so far... is it bad that I am ready to send them back?!?
Actually, my girls had a very successful year. All of them did really well, learned a lot, and made us very proud.
Ciera finished her fifth grade year with straight A's. She was recognized at the end of the year awards assembly for honor roll, and she got an award from her Language Arts teacher. She took three TAKS tests (grade level state tests) in Math, Language Arts, and Science. She passed them all, and was "commended" on two of them, meaning she got a 95% or higher. We are very happy with how well she did!! We are so proud of Ciera!
Chloe finished third grade with straight A's too. She received honor roll throughout the year, and achieved 13o+ points in Accelerated Reader. She took TAKS tests in math and reading, and received "commended" scores on both. On her reading test, she got a 100%! She did really awesome, and we are so pleased with how well she did! We are so proud of Chloe!
Brooke graduated from Kindergarten. She did so well all year, and was consistently praised for her smarts. She got "M"'s on most areas of her report card, which means she has mastered the subject. She was one of the few Kindergarteners that were able to do Accelerated Reader, and she was tested into the Gifted and Talented program. She learned so much, and had a wonderful teacher this year. We are so proud of our Brookie!
Autumn successfully finished her Preschool co-op that we did this year. She learned how to write most of her letters really well, she can recognize her letters and their sounds, and mostly she learned to be more independent and work in a "classroom" setting. She did really well, and we are so proud of her!
For the first week of our vacation, we were in the Saint George area of southern Utah. It was really fun to be with family. We spent a lot of time in the pool at the condo, but we also went to the St. George temple, hiked, shopped, and played.
We went into Zion National Park and hiked the narrows with the kids one day. There was a lot of water, and it got chest deep as we went along, so we didn't stay too long. Additionally, the water was really COLD! It was fun, and definitely something to remember.
Our last day there, we went to snow canyon and hiked. It was really hot, and there aren't really shade trees, so we had to find shade under rocks and shrubs!
Dave and Ciera, Chloe, and Autumn climbed up the rocks and hiked around on top for a while. They were really high! Brooke didn't want to climb, so she hung around her "best friend and cousin" Chadley. We had a great trip, and can't wait for our next family gathering!
