Dance Recital

The dance class that I was teaching this fall had their dance show yesterday. I had 11 children in my 4-7 year old Tap/Ballet class. Brooke and Autumn were both in it. It ended up being really fun. Here is their show...

Visit by Grandma and Grandpa Tanner

We had a wonderful weekend with Grandma and Grandpa! They arrived on Thursday, and we went out to get a Christmas tree. Friday, Grandpa and Dave went to work in the morning, and the girls went shopping and made the fondant for chocolates. We met the men for lunch at Costco and shopped a little more! In the evening, we decorated our tree and made the chocolates. They turned out SO good (the tree looked good, and the chocolates tasted good!)!! Saturday, the boys went to cut wood for our fireplace, and the girls shopped some more (Yay shopping!), celebrated Autumn's birthday with Grandma and Grandpa a week early, then we went to the Stake Christmas Choir concert in the evening (which I sang in). Sunday we went to church and then came home and had a big early dinner/late lunch before having to say good bye to Grandma and Grandpa. It was a wonderful visit, and we are so glad that they were able to visit us here in good ol' Texas.

Thanksgiving Weekend

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! It all began on Thanksgiving day with fabulous food and great company! (The company being just our family!) Our turkey was SUPER and all the sides tasted delicious! Friday we just hung out together, went to the gym together, watched movies, made homemade doughnuts (glazed bars and twists, chocolate bars and maple bars) for the first time, and enjoyed our time together. Saturday we went to the Heard Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary and hiked around for an hour or so. It was really chilly, cause the wind was blowing and it was a little overcast and the air was wet. (As you can see, the girls each had a sweatshirt... and I didn't.) We had a wonderful time being together the whole weekend. It was really hard to get back to our normal routine on Monday! I am SO thankful for my family!!

We are THANKFUL

Happy Thanksgiving! We have been trying to focus on the things we are thankful for every day this month. It has been nice to really think about how blessed we truly are. Sometimes, our situations make us feel a little down-in-the-dumps, but remembering the wonderful things that we have been given helps put things in perspective. I am so grateful for my family, for my Savior, and for the beauties all around me. I hope we can think about these things throughout the year, and remember how much we are loved and blessed by the Lord!

A month of gratitude

For Family Home Evening this week, we talked about gratitude. I decided, to focus our girls (and ourselves) on what we are grateful for, we would make a banner. I wrote "We are Thankful for..." on it, and each day all of us are going to write things we are thankful for. At the end of the month, we will have a wall of gratitude! (I will do a post about some of the things we write at the end of the month!) I am grateful for my sweet family, and look forward to this special time of year with them!

Dinomotion

The Dodd Elementary Dinos 4th graders put on their annual musical last week. It was called "Dinomotion" and was a play that taught about the dinosaurs with catchy songs and witty dialogue. Chloe had a speaking part as one of the dinosaur narrators. She was by far the best one!! (Of course!) It was fun to go and see Chloe and her classmates in their play!
